Our story . . .
CereCore® Institute started with original work by the founder, Jan Thomas. She is a pioneer in educating people to more deliberately use their thinking processes for increased performance.

It all began in 1979. Working with gifted students, Jan observed an interesting pattern. When given the same verbal cues, students responded differently in one of two ways. It became clear that each used their own thinking processes and responded accordingly to the cues.

These observations became the basis of research from 1981 to 1987, which led to the development of the Thomas Indicator Profile (TIP). More fieldwork followed and TIPSM was further refined to provide very detailed and specific information about associational thinkers. Many highly associational people have common attributes, even though they view the world in unique ways. They often are innovative and out-of-the-box thinkers.

As the business world grew more and more complex, companies started turning to associational thinkers for new and creative solutions. Associational thinkers are integral to product development, strategic planning and operational success.

In 1987, Jan formed Profiling Consultants LLC, an Executive and Corporate Coaching and Consulting firm. Profiling Consultants was designed to optimize the performance of associational thinkers—both on an individual and corporate team level.

In 2001, CereCore® Institute was built to respond to the increasing demand for associational thinking development. The CereCore®System, with TIPSM as the foundation, is the cornerstone for professionals, tools and methodologies that focus the human response for performance in business and personal environments.

Active research and development of new tools and services continue to provide effective, ongoing solutions. The Institute's current resources focus on leading others, team performance, life skills, personal organization, and certification programs.

CereCore® Institute works with individuals, teams and corporations to identify and implement performance action plans. The Institute offers certification programs for qualified coaches and consultants, continuously expanding CereCore® Institute's resources.

The CereCore tool, TIPSM, began with Jan Thomas' groundbreaking work with human performance and associational thought processes.

Associational thinking combines principles of cognitive science with intuitive processing realities. Broadly speaking, cognitive science describes your thinking as figurative structures in the mind. Intuitive processing is each person's way of decision-making via their thinking processes plus life experiences and response to their environment.

Using TIPSM, the CereCore®System taps into associational thinking processes that previously haven't been defined by typical behavioral assessments. The result is an emphatically different knowledge of your thinking strengths.

Surprisingly, people don't really change very much in their approaches to problem solving, even as they age. What this means is revolutionary: you're going to be most effective if you strengthen what works. This self-knowledge is the heart of the CereCore®System.

The CereCore®System is an objective, easy to administer, and deeply analytical system. It begins with a TIPSM assessment of your core-thinking processes and combines this insight with customized reports, strategies and solutions. Three Profile Reports can be generated from one TIPSM assessment - Foundation, Leader and Career.

We can do this because the assessment combines 195 specific scoring components into 25 different informational groupings—often identifying traits and factors that have completely escaped notice in other testing methods. The reports draw on over 2,900 unique components that provide over 2,900 specific combinations. (The odds are 1 in 5.5 million that your results are the same as someone else.)

Over 6,000 people have taken the assessment. Their results form the data pool that's been used to prove effectiveness, sustainability, and reliability. These people have found that the practical strategies that TIPSM and the CereCore®System provide make work and life decisions easier. They are able to manage themselves, teams and companies more effectively. They find that by building on their core strengths, they function at their highest potential.
